Yuri Alexandrovich Falik

Yuri Alexandrowitsch Falik ( Russian Юрий Александрович Фалик ; born July 30, 1936 in Odessa , Ukraine , † January 23, 2009 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian composer and conductor .

Falik studied at the Leningrad Conservatory from 1955 to 1964 and in 1962 received first prize at the International Cello Competition at the VIII World Festival in Helsinki . In addition, compositions have already been written that show the influence of his teacher Arapov in addition to his musical role models Stravinsky , Prokofiev and Shostakovich . The works created from 1968 onwards are described as having matured and detached from the models.

Falik was a professor at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and has performed as a conductor in Russia and abroad.
