Yuri Ivanovich Baldin

Yuri Ivanovich Baldin ( Russian Юрий Иванович Балдин , Ukrainian Юрій Іванович Балдін Jurij Ivanovych Baldin ; born February 23, 1932 in Leningrad ) is a Soviet - Ukrainian sculptor .

Life

At the age of nine, after the beginning of the Leningrad blockade , Baldin was evacuated across Lake Ladoga and taken to a children's home in Yaroslavl Oblast until his mother could take him back to her home. In 1942 they were transported further beyond the Urals . In 1944 they returned to Leningrad. Baldin studied sculpture at the Leningrad Academy of Arts from 1953 to 1959 under Mikhail Konstantinovich Anikushin . Baldins thesis was a Ostrowski - sculpture . Baldin and other students helped Igor Vsevolodowitsch Krestovsky by employing and paying them for restoration work in Leningrad. Baldin became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR . In 1965 he left the academy and went to Donetsk because he was promised an apartment and a job. His first major work was the head of the Soviet partisan Soja Anatoljewna Kosmodemjanskaja . In 1973 he became a member of the National Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR .

Baldin created in Donetsk the monument to the liberators of Donbass in Komsomol -Park (1984 with the sculptor Oleksandr Poroschnjuk , the architect Vladimir Petrovich Kischkan and Mikhail Yakovlevich Ksenewitsch and engineering Yefim Leonidovich Raigorodezki), the monument for the Soviet German war killed Journalists and writers (1990 with Vladimir Petrowitsch Kischkan), the Tolbuchin monument on Ilyich Prospect (1995 with Artur Lwowitsch Lukin), the memorial plaque for Vasily Semyonovich Grossman at the city hospital No. 1 (1995 with Vladimir Petrovich Kishkan), the monument for the 1st Secretary of Donetsk Oblast Vladimir Ivanovich Degtyaryov (2001 with Artur Lvowitsch Lukin), the memorial to the person healed at the Traumatology Clinic (2001 with Pavel Wassiljewitsch Tschesnokow ), the warrior of the Scythian sculpture group on the theater square (2003 with Vladimir Grigoryev ) that Melpomene - statue on the Theater (2005), the monument to di e Victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster (2006 with Vladimir Stepanowitsch Butschek) and the Holocaust memorial on Lenin Prospect (2006 with Pavlo Issaakowitsch Wigderhaus ).

In Mariupol there is Baldin's memorial plaque and monument to Vladimir Semyonovich Vysotsky (1998 with Yefim Viktorovich Charabet ). In Horlivka Baldins plaque was for Isaac Babel attached. Baldin also created a bust of the writer and poet Viktor Wassiljewitsch Schutow .

In the 2008 competition for the monument erected in 2010 in Odessa for the 250 Donetsk miners who died in the defense of Odessa on August 25, 1941, Baldin finished in third place compared to Alexander Evgenyevich Shamarin in second place and the winner (cash prize of 5000 rubles ) Viktor Fyodorovich Piskun .
