Mikhail Konstantinovich Anikuschin ( Russian Михаил Константинович Аникушин ; born September 19 . Jul / 2. October  1917 greg. In Moscow ; † 18th May 1997 in St. Petersburg ) was a Russian sculptor .

Life

Anikushin, the working-class son of a large family, entered WS Bogatyrev's preparatory class at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in 1935 . In 1936 he studied further at the Leningrad Art Middle School with the sculptor Gavriil Alexandrowitsch Schulz and in 1937 now at the Leningrad Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture with the sculptors Viktor Alexandrowitsch Sinaiski and Alexander Terentjewitsch Matwejew . At the beginning of the German-Soviet War he joined the Opoltschenije and fought in the Red Army from November 1941 . In 1945 he continued his studies at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and graduated in 1947.

Anikuschin represented classical, traditional sculpture . He created a series of Pushkin - sculptures . His best-known work is the Pushkin Monument (1949–1957 with the architect Vasily Alexandrowitsch Petrow ) on the Arts Square in St. Petersburg. In 1962 he became a Real Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR . 1962–1972 he headed the Saint Petersburg Artists Association . From 1966 to 1976 he was a member of the Central Revision Commission of the CPSU .

Anikuschin was married to the sculptor Marija Timofejewna nee Litovchenko (1917-2003). He was buried in St. Petersburg's Volkovo Cemetery at the literary bridges.

The asteroid (3358) Anikushin, discovered by Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych in 1978, bears Anikushin's name. There is the Anikuschin art school in Kronstadt .
