Jury Astapenka (born October 10, 1990 ) is a Belarusian cross-country skier .

Career

Astapenka appeared for the first time internationally at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2010 in Hinterzarten , taking 52nd place over 10 km classic and tenth place with the relay. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he started in the Alpine Cup , where he achieved placements outside of the points. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2011 in Otepää , he came in 38th place in the skiathlon and 24th place over 15 km freestyle. In February 2011 he made his debut in the World Cup in Nové Město . He started in the 15 km mass start race, which he did not finish and achieved 15th place with the relay. At the U23 World Ski Championships in 2012 in Erzurum , he came in 46th place over 15 km classic. In January 2013 he finished 48th in the skiathlon and 28th place in the 15 km freestyle at the U23 World Ski Championships in Liberec . In the following month he won 62nd place in the skiathlon and 57th place in the 50 km mass start race at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme . In the 2013/14 season he mainly participated in FIS races . His best results at the Winter Universiade 2013 in Lago di Tesero were 16th place in the skiathlon and eighth place in the relay. In the following season he competed in six World Cup races. His best placement was 48th place over 15 km freestyle in Sochi . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2015 in Falun , he finished 37th in the 15 km freestyle, 36th place in the skiathlon and 14th place with the relay. In the summer of 2015 he started in Madona for the first time in the Rollerski World Cup and achieved fourth place over 7.5 km classic and second place in the subsequent pursuit race. At the beginning of winter 2014/15 he finished the Nordic Opening in 75th place. He had to end the Tour de Ski 2016 early after he was lapped in Oberstdorf in the 15 km mass start stage. After third place in the Slavic Cup over 10 km freestyle in Štrbské Pleso at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he won his first victories in the Eastern Europe Cup in Syanki over 10 km classic and 15 km freestyle . In the further course of the season he took second and third place in the Eastern Europe Cup and thus reached fifth place in the overall standings. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he came in 39th place in the sprint, 32nd place in the 50 km mass start race and 28th place in the sprint. The following year he ran at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang on 55th place over 15 km freestyle, on 50th place in the skiathlon and on 14th place together with Michail Sjamjonau in the team sprint.
