Justin Göbler (* 1504 in Sankt Goar ; † April 21, 1567 in Frankfurt am Main ; also Justin Gobler , Justinus Goebler, etc.) was a German lawyer.

Life

Göbler studied law at the universities in Bourges , Erfurt and Mainz , where he also received his doctorate. From 1535 to 1537 he was professor for moral philosophy in Trier . Duke Erich von Braunschweig-Lüneburg appointed him to his council in 1539 . In 1544 he became court judge at Münden , where he supported Elisabeth of Brandenburg in introducing the Reformation . Under Franz von Waldeck he became chancellor of the bishopric of Münster in 1546 and councilor of Nassau in 1549. From 1559 he was syndic of the Free Imperial City of Frankfurt am Main, where he died in 1567 and was buried in St. Peter's Church.

Göbler's Latin translation of the German Constitutio Criminalis Carolina of 1543 is significant .
