Life

In September 1787 he was appointed associate professor and in early 1792 Arnemann was appointed full professor of medicine at the University of Göttingen. Over time, he accumulated such high debts there that he had to flee the city in 1803. He went to Hamburg and opened a practice there as a general practitioner . Although Arnemann was very successful as a doctor, he gradually got into debt again, and shot himself four weeks after his 43rd birthday on July 25, 1806 in Hamburg, where he found his final resting place.
