Jutta Fischer (politician)

Jutta Fischer (born March 22, 1953 in Mannheim ) is a German local politician. She has been Lord Mayor of Lutherstadt Eisleben since 2006 . Your term of office ends on April 25, 2020.

Career

Jutta Fischer grew up in Eisleben from 1953. She attended school up to the 10th grade and completed an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk by 1972 . Subsequently, she did the Abitur at the adult education center . From 1975 followed a correspondence course of economics with a major in economics at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg , which she in 1981 as a graduate economist graduated. Until 1991 Fischer worked as chief accountant (head of accounting and statistics) in the service sector. From 1989 she took part in numerous training courses offered by the twin town of Herne as part of the economic development program. In 1991 she switched to the city administration's economic development department. In 1992 she became head of the Eisleben auditing office.

From 2005 to 2006, Fischer was the director of the newly founded administrative association Lutherstadt Eisleben.

Political career

On March 26, 2006, Fischer was elected mayor of Lutherstadt Eisleben with 51% of the votes as a non-party candidate of the SPD. Fischer has been Lord Mayor since January 1, 2009. On December 2, 2012, she was re-elected in the second ballot with 64.0% of the vote and immediately afterwards asked to join the SPD.

For reasons of age, Fischer no longer stood as a candidate for mayoral election in 2019. Fischer's term of office as Lord Mayor ends on April 25, 2020.

Activities as Lord Mayor

Fischer campaigned for Eisleben as a business location, for various cultural issues and for the Lutherstadt Eisleben to become known.

Despite the reduction in funds from the state of Saxony-Anhalt , Fischer campaigned for the preservation of the Volkstedt correctional facility as a major employer and also for the preservation of the Eisleber Theater . She used the program “Courage to Gap - Courage to New” to advertise an architecture competition for the Eisleber Jüdenhof.

In 2009, Fischer proposed to the municipality of Rome to name a street after Luther. This was crowned with success: the Martin-Luther-Platz near the Colosseum was inaugurated in 2015. Fischer was there with a delegation from Eisleben at the inauguration.
