Juwenali ( Russian Ювеналий bourgeois: Vladimir Kirillovich Poyarkov , Владимир Кириллович Поярков *  22. September 1935 in Yaroslavl ) is a Russian Orthodox priest , archbishop and metropolitan of Krutitsy and Kolomna .

Life

Juwenali attended an Orthodox seminary and entered the Leningrad Spiritual Academy in 1953 , from which he graduated in 1957. On October 10, 1959 he received the tonsure , on January 1, 1960 he was ordained a priest and in 1962 a hegumen .

After his elevation to Archimandrite on February 21, 1963, he was ordained bishop by the Metropolitan of Leningrad Nikodim on December 25, 1965 in the Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery . He initially worked as the (titular) bishop of Sarayisk in the diocese of Moscow until he became bishop of Tula and Belyov on March 20, 1969 . On June 2, 1971, he was elevated to archbishopric by Pimen I and a year later on April 27 to metropolitan. Since June 11, 1977 he has been Metropolitan of Krutitsy and Kolomna . For many years he was jointly responsible for the external relations of the Russian Orthodox Church and holds important church offices. In 1962 he worked as a priest on behalf of his church in Tegel ( West Berlin ). Here he published a German-language church magazine.

Shortly after it was founded, Pojarkow became a member of the Christian Peace Conference and was one of the co-creators of all six All-Christian Peace Assemblies from 1961 to 1985 in Prague .

His official seat is the New Maiden Monastery , which has been the seat of the Metropolitan since 1964. During the tenure of Patriarch Alexius II , he was considered the right-hand man of the Moscow Patriarch. During the visit of a delegation from the Bavarian State Parliament in 2004, he reported with satisfaction that at that time his church again had more than 1,000 places of worship. By 2019, the Moscow region under his control was the only one in Russia that had not been divided into several dioceses.
