The Käsplatte is a 978.3 m high, subordinate mountain in the Bavarian Forest .
It is located about two kilometers north of the well-known Pröller between the villages of Prackenbach , Kollnburg and St. Englmar in the municipality of Sankt Englmar . The slightly higher neighboring summit of the Hanichelriegel is about four hundred meters to the east. Several marked hiking trails lead to the Käsplatte, for example starting from Ahornwies, Münchshöfen or Kolmberg.
On the summit of the Käsplatte, hikers can expect an unusual sight in addition to the natural tranquility: Similar to the Lusen , the mountain is littered with hundreds of boulders, from which a good view to the north and west is possible.
Geotope
The sea of blocks on the Käsplatte has been designated as an important geotope (geotope number: 278R010) and natural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment . This 60000 square meter sea of granite and anatexite was created in the Pleistocene .
