At 1049  m , the Pröller is the most famous mountain around St. Englmar and Kollnburg in the Bavarian Forest . In good weather, you have a good view to the east from the summit cross, which extends from the Hohen Bogen , Kaitersberg , Osser , Großer Arber to the Rachel . In the past you also had a clear view to the south and west because the summit was largely free of trees. This can be seen in old photos from the first summit cross inauguration in 1923. The property owner of the Pröller summit has been the Straubing Section of the Bavarian Forest Association since 1922 . In winter, the Pröller with its lifts on the west, north and east side is one of the most important ski mountains in the Bavarian Forest.

Ascent

The Goldsteig hiking trail runs between Hinterwies and the top of the St 2139 state road over the Pröller. The section from Hinterwies leads first to the edge of the forest and then along the ski slope to the summit. In the opposite direction, you start from the hiking car park at the top of the pass north of Sankt Englmar. From there you first move on a forest path. Later you will reach something more free but also steeper and more uneven terrain.
