Königshöfer fair
The Königshöfer Messe is a folk festival in the Lauda-Königshofener district of Königshofen in the Main-Tauber district . The fair looks back on over 600 years of history. It begins on the Friday of the third weekend in September and takes place around the Tauber-Franken-Halle in Königshofen. With its 10-day duration and over 200,000 visitors annually, it is the largest folk festival in the Tauberfranken and North Baden region .
history
In 1415 the Königshöfer fair was first mentioned in a document as a one-day Matthäus market . Since then, the fair has been held annually and was only interrupted by wars and disasters: For example, the German Peasants 'War in 1525, the Thirty Years' War in 1640, the First World War and at the end of the Second World War in 1945. Mass was celebrated again in 1947. The carousel was driven by hand at the time.
The Tauber-Franken-Halle , built in 1967, is used as a central event location during the trade fair period.
In 1991 the first Königshöfer fair run took place. In 2015, the 600th anniversary of the fair was celebrated with a gala evening on September 23, the otherwise fair-free Wednesday.
Fair run
The trade fair run, which has been taking place since 1991, always takes place on the first Saturday of the trade fair and attracts hundreds of participants every year. The fair run is organized by ETSV 04 Lauda - Leichtathletik eV and is divided into the following competitions: a Bambini run (0.5 km), a school run (2.5 km), a 5000 meter run / hobby run (5 km) , a 10-kilometer run (10 km), a team run (10.2 km), a half marathon and a half marathon relay race.
