The Küferbach , in the upper course Mühlebach (sometimes also called Tobelbach or Sepplerbach ), is a flowing body of water that rises near the Alpe Kühberg, on the northern flank of the Staufen , (municipality of Dornbirn , source at around 904 m above sea level ) and flows over the Mühlebachtobel to the Fallbach .
Source, course of estuary, geology, geography
The Küferbach begins at water kilometers (GwKm) 2.97 and flows in a large arc to the north, between Bürgle and Karren , through the Mühlebachtobel roughly from southeast to southwest .
The Küferbach does not show any significant gradients, washouts or waterfalls and, with regard to the amount of water, is heavily dependent on the previous rainfall and is heavily thinned out during longer dry periods.
Tributaries
The Küferbach has only a few insignificant tributaries. These are (seen from the origin) in the upper area up to the mouth at river kilometers:

The Küferbach flows inconspicuously at a river kilometer 0.00 (at 427 m above sea level ) in the area of the Flur Äuele (behind the Graf company, In Steinen 5) into the Fallbach (at a river kilometer 1.85).
After the last ice ages, the Küferbach carried considerable amounts of debris and raised large alluvial cones on which the districts of Mühlebach and Bachmähdle now stand.
The Küferbach flows entirely through the municipality of Dornbirn .
Flood protection
In February 2016, work began to improve flood protection on Küferbach (Mühlebach sawmill to Wallenmahd elementary school ). Around EURO 1.5 million will be invested. To this end, dams are being rehabilitated and partially raised and the stream bed widened.
Economic use
The Mühlebach or Küferbach used to be used economically, as the names "Mühle" bach or "Küfer" bach indicate. At Haslachgasse 9, hydropower is said to have been used for the cooperage for over 220 years. Until the 1950s there was still a water wheel in the Mühlebach, with which the water power of the Mühlebach was used (Seppler-Mühle - grain mill ).
