Cabinet Hoxha I

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hoxha I cabinet was the first government in Albania after the end of World War II . It was formed on October 22, 1944 by Prime Minister Enver Hoxha of the Party of Labor of Albania PPSh (Partia e Punës e Shqipërisë) and remained in office until January 10, 1946, after which it was replaced by the Hoxha II cabinet .

On 24 May 1944, the Liberation Front, an alliance of anti-fascist groups on which had Congress of Përmet , the Omer Nishani board, a provisional government led by the Communists formed which consists of 30 people Antifascist National Committee , headed by Enver Hoxha. From October 10 to 23, 1944, the representatives of the Liberation Front met in Berat for a second congress. Although the Wehrmacht still controlled Tirana and the coastal plain in the north from Durrës to Shkodra at that time , an imminent defeat and the seizure of power by the liberation front became apparent. The Anti-Fascist National Committee was transformed into the “Democratic Government of Albania” on October 22, 1944.

At the end of November 1944, the occupiers were driven out of the country. On March 15, 1945, the formation of the Provisional Government was officially announced. It is also said that Omer Nishani, as chairman of the presidium of parliament and his deputy, was part of the cabinet announced in March 1945.

On December 2, 1945, a people's constituent assembly was elected in Albania . On January 11, 1946, Albania declared a People's Republic , whereupon the government resigned on January 11. However, it remained in office as the Hoxha II cabinet until a new government was formed. Since the Hoxha II cabinet was no different from the Hoxha I cabinet, it is not always viewed as a separate cabinet in the literature. These authors only designate March 25th as the end of the Hoxha I cabinet.
