The mountaineers William Woodman Graham, Emil Boss and Ulrich Kauffmann climbed the mountain on October 8, 1883 to just below the north summit. Conrad Reginald Cooke reached the north summit on November 18, 1935, which at that time was still regarded as the highest point of Kabru. An Indian army expedition climbed Summits I, II and III in May 1994. On May 10, 1994 members of the expedition reached the northern summit. On May 12, 1994, the first ascent of Kabru III and the southern summit succeeded.
