He is considered one of the most famous DJs on the black scene and a key figure in promoting the wave and independent scene, which he supported with over 1000 events, particularly in the Hanover / Lower Saxony area . The “Festival of Darkness 1-6” series of events, one of the first of its kind, and the “New Wave Night” (1990 to today) are the figureheads of his career.

history

His DJ career began in Hawaii in 1983. From 1985 to 1988 he was resident DJ at the “Palace” disco in Hanover. From 1989 he moderated for a few years articles for radio ffn in cooperation with Ecki Stieg in the radio ffn “ Grenzwellen ”. During this time, Hawaii lent its “ghost voice” to the ffn comedy troupe Frühstyxradio with Oliver Kalkofe , Dietmar Wischmeyer and Sabine Bulthaup for numerous contributions.

At the same time he continued his DJ work in the discotheque “Index” (1989 to 1994) and from 1992 to 1995 he took on the role of editor-in-chief of the music magazine “Inquisita”, in which inter alia interview articles about renowned artists such as Depeche Mode , OMD and David Bowie have been published.

Hawaii founded a large number of bands, such as Rapit Cateract and Un-4-Scene, produced by Time Tools director Andy Bolleshon, and in 1993, together with pianist Alexander Röder, laid the foundation stone for the band Stigmata . One year later he started the Synthetic Symphony label and took over the management of the “Twilight” discotheque in Hanover. During this time he supported bands such as Welle: Erdball and z. B. And One the first appearance in front of a large audience.

In 1999, together with his wife Arielle, he founded the company "NeWave Music", which specializes in events, management and music and organizes concerts such as in the "Capitol" Hanover.

In 2000 a collaboration with the band Ravelab followed . Ravelab made a remake of the Invincible Spirit song "Push", for which Hawaii provided the vocals. “Push” took third place in the German dance charts for two weeks and was also well received by MTV and Viva.

Together with Nils Ruzicka, platinum remixer of the Bellini hit “Samba de Janeiro”, and Marian Gold from Alphaville , Kai Hawaii wrote the soundtrack for the multiplayer online game Dark Age of Camelot in 2004 for the song “Für Dich”. On August 30, 2004, Alphaville-Hawaii presented “Für Dich” live in Berlin in the tipi tent at the Chancellery on the occasion of Alphaville's 20th anniversary.
