Kai Seefried (born January 23, 1978 in Stade ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2008 .

Life and work

Seefried grew up in the Assel district of the Drochtersen community . He and his wife Julia Seefried have a daughter and is also the father of a son from his first marriage.

After Seefried had left the Elbmarschenschule in Drochtersen with the secondary school certificate, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in a medium-sized furniture store in Stade-Bützfleth from 1995 to 1997 . In 2002 he successfully completed further training as a state-certified wood technician . Since 2003, Seefried carpenter master . He was honored as the best of the year in his chamber district . In 2005 he successfully completed an advanced training course in business administration (HWK) .

Political party

Seefried has been a member of the Junge Union (JU) since 1996 and of the CDU since 1997. From 2003 to 2011 Seefried was chairman of the CDU community association Drochtersen, and since 2011 he has been deputy chairman of the community association. From 2004 to 2009 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Stade. On October 23, 2009, he was elected new district chairman of the CDU with 97.7 percent of the vote.

In 2007 he prevailed with 211 to 170 votes in an internal party vote against the incumbent CDU member of the state parliament Karsten Behr as a candidate for the constituency of Stade in the Lower Saxony state election in 2008 .

Kai Seefried has been Secretary General of the CDU in Lower Saxony since November 20, 2017 .

MP

Seefried won 50.4 percent of the first votes in the elections to the Lower Saxony state parliament on January 27, 2008 and has been a directly elected member of the Stade state electoral district since February 26, 2008 . In the 16th electoral term, he was a member of the Committee for Environment and Climate Protection, of the Culture Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee “Ports and Shipping” of the Committee for Economy, Labor and Transport. As a deputy member he was involved in the committees for economy, labor and transport, science and culture and in the 21st parliamentary committee of inquiry into the Asse mine .

In the election for the 17th Lower Saxony state parliament , Seefried again entered the state parliament as a directly elected member of the Stade constituency with 50.0 percent of the first votes. In the CDU state parliamentary group, he is a spokesman for school policy on the parliamentary group executive committee and is chairman of the working group on culture.

In the election for the 18th Lower Saxony state parliament , Seefried was able to win his constituency again with a clear lead and received 43.41% of the first votes. Kai Seefried is a member of the Culture Committee, the Ports and Shipping Subcommittee and the Media Subcommittee in the 18th electoral term.

Local politics

In the local elections in Lower Saxony on September 9, 2001, Seefried was elected to the local council as the youngest councilor of the Drochtersen community. Since 2006 he has been the first deputy mayor of the Drochtersen municipal council. From 2006 to 2018 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

Seefried has been a member of the Stader Kreisag since November 2011 . In the elections in November 2021, he is aiming to succeed Michael Roesberg as district administrator.
