Kaia Wøien Nicolaisen (born November 23, 1990 in Trondheim ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .

Career

Kaia Wøien Nicolaisen ran her first international race in 2007 as part of the junior competitions of the European Biathlon Cup . Then it took three years before she competed in international races again in Torsby as part of the 2010 Biathlon Junior World Championships . In the junior world championships, the Norwegian was 12th in the individual, fifth in the sprint, sixth in the pursuit and won the silver medal with Marie Hov and Synnøve Solemdal as the starter of the Norwegian relay behind the representation from Russia and ahead of the Germans. At the 2010 European Biathlon Championships , Nicolaisen was initially used in the junior competitions in Otepää , where she won the individual silver medal behind Monika Hojnisz , in the sprint as fifth and in the pursuit as fourth just missed further medals. For the season she was appointed to the women's team in Norway, where she also just missed a medal with Tiril Eckhoff , Fanny Horn and Synnøve Solemdal in fourth place.

Nationally, Nicolaisen won the relay race at the Norwegian Championships 2009 in Lillehammer together with Fanny Horn and Julie Bonnevie-Svendsen, representing the Oslo og Akershus region . The following year she won the bronze medal with Eckhoff and Horn at the Norwegian Championships in Simostranda .

At the end of the 2017/18 season, Nicolaisen ended her active career as a competitive athlete.
