Kajínek Files is a Czech crime film directed by Petr Jákl from 2010. The film is based on true events and describes the inconsistencies in connection with the conviction of Czech criminal Jiří Kajínek in 1993.

After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia , corruption and organized crime are on the rise. In 1993 two criminals were shot and Vlasta Klempar was spared seriously injured. Jiří Kajínek is found guilty of double homicide and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Czech maximum security prison Mírov .
Kajínek's then defender Doležal was in a relationship with the young lawyer Pokorová years later. She firmly believes that Kajínek did not get a fair trial and wants to reopen the case. Statements by Klempar's cellmates were ignored, even though they documented the involvement of police officers. Seized evidence from the crime scene was covered up, a tape recording of a police officer does not appear and Doležal reports on a deal that Kajínek did not agree to. The criminals allegedly murdered by Kajínek had previously abused and crippled Pokorová's older sister, only to rape the then 14-year-old Pokorová herself a short time later. So there is a personal interest in this case.
The then police chief Novotný confirmed Pokorová's suspicions and referred them to the former police officer Lejčko, who, however, did not want to give a detailed statement under intense pressure. Although there are clear doubts about the earlier evidence, the retrial is refused. Novotný then goes to Doležal, because Pokorová was unable to prevent Pokorová's efforts to do so. Shortly afterwards, Doležal dies in an alleged car accident. Pokorová continues to investigate and finds that Novotný is holding all the strings in the background.
Meanwhile, Kajínek succeeds in one of many attempts to escape. He wants to prove his innocence in his own way. He confirms to Pokorová that Lejčko could very well relieve him, but a break in Novotný's safe does not help him. Lejčko is now ready to cooperate fully and is handing Pokorová seized cigarette butts from the crime scene, which he describes as his life insurance. The lawyer is then attacked and Novotný can come into possession of the misappropriated evidence. Obviously Novotný also has the judges in hand.
Lejčko was shot dead on Novotný's behalf and Kajínek was arrested again after five weeks in a nightly operation. Pokorová goes public and continues to plead, now with ministerial support, for a new procedure. In the meantime, Novotný plays a tape in the Kajínek prison that proves that police officers were involved. Pokorová promises Kajínek to keep fighting for him on her next visit.
