Kalla Ankourao (also: Kalla Ankouraou , Kalla Hankourao , Kalla Hankouraou ; born January 1, 1946 in Dakoro ) is a Nigerien politician . He has been Nigeria's Foreign Minister since 2018 .

Life

Kalla Ankourao graduated from the École spéciale des travaux publics engineering school , du bâtiment et de l'industrie in France and the Université du Québec in Canada . He is a civil engineer and also holds a Maîtrise in nuclear physics from the University of Paris-South . He worked as the director of building materials in the Niger State Administration in the 1980s.

Ankourao became an influential leader in the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya) in the early 1990s , for which he took over the coordination of the regional section of Maradi . He was elected as a member of the National Assembly in the parliamentary elections of 1993 . There he worked from 1993 to 1994 as chairman of the parliamentary committee for defense and security and repeatedly as a member of the finance committee. Kalla Ankourao was Minister of Health from 1995 to 1996 under President Mahamane Ousmane ( CDS-Rahama ).

In the parliamentary elections of 2004 he was re-elected to the National Assembly. He took over the chairmanship of the PNDS Tarayya parliamentary group from 2004 to 2009. During this time he initiated a project for public access to public information. In 2011, Ankourao became Minister of Infrastructure in the first government of President Mahamadou Issoufou (PNDS-Tarayya). He held this position until 2012. Instead, he became a ministerial advisor to the president and chairman of the organizing committee of the republic anniversary celebrations on December 18, 2015. After his re-election in the 2016 parliamentary elections, he was also chairman of the PNDS Tarayya parliamentary group.

Following the resignation of Ibrahim Yacouba ( MPN-Kiishin Kassa ), Kalla Ankourao became Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Migrants Abroad on April 11, 2018.
