The Kamjansk Reservoir ( Ukrainian Кам'янське водосховище , until November 8, 2017 Dniprodzerzhynsk Reservoir ) is one of the six large Ukrainian Dnepr Reservoirs .

The Ukrainian oblasts of Kirowohrad , Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk border the reservoir .

Dam wall

The Kamjansker reservoir covers 567 km² and comprises about 2.45 km³ of water. The length is 114 km with a maximum width of 8 km. At the deepest point the water has a depth of 16 m.

The barrier structure is a combination of a dam and a gravity dam . Their total length is more than 35 km, making it one of the longest dams on earth.

The dam of the lake is located west of the city Kamjanske (2016 Dniprodzerzhynsk ) which for Dniproer belongs metropolitan area. There is a large hydroelectric power station here . The dam was built in 1964.

In the course of the damming of the lake, many residents had to be relocated. Most people moved into apartments in new settlements planned by the Soviet state on the banks of the dammed lake.

The Worskla River flows into the reservoir .
Larger cities on the Dniprodzerzhynsk reservoir are the cities of Horischni Plawni and Verkhnyodniprovsk .
