The Kamptalweg is a 115.5 kilometer long cycle path on the northwestern Wagram and in the Waldviertel in Lower Austria . It leads from Altenwörth in the Tulln district mainly through the Kamptal via the Krems-Land , Horn and Zwettl districts to the district capital of Zwettl .

The Kamptalweg branches off from the Danube Cycle Path in Altenwörth and leads through the Kamptal and the central Waldviertel to Zwettl . It runs partly on its own routes, partly on state and municipal roads and is mostly paved. Between its starting point and Rosenburg it runs relatively flat along the Kamp , while between Rosenburg and Zwettl it only partially follows the Kamp over hilly terrain. A total of around 1200 meters of altitude has to be overcome on this section of the route. The cycle path is signposted in both directions.

Routing

From its starting point in Altenwörth, the Kamptalweg leads through the wine-growing areas of the lower Kamptal to the wine town of Langenlois . Along the Kamp and the Kamptalbahn , the cycle path leads via Schönberg am Kamp through the Kamptal-Schönberg Nature Park on to Gars am Kamp and Rosenburg and in this section it shares the route with the Kamp-Thaya-March cycle route . In Rosenburg he leaves the Kamptal and after four kilometers reaches Altenburg Abbey . At the edge of the Horner Basin , the path leads via Greillenstein Castle and Altpölla to Krumau am Kamp and then along the Ottenstein reservoir via Rastenfeld , Friedersbach and Zwettl Abbey to the district capital, Zwettl .
