Kang Yue (born October 8, 1991 ) is a Chinese weightlifter . She won medals in duels at several world championships and in 2013 became world champion in snatching in the weight classes up to 69 kg and up to 75 kg body weight.

Career

Kang Yue started lifting weights as a teenager. She is a member of the Shandong Province team. It started in the weight class up to 69 kg and in 2011 changed to the weight class up to 75 kg body weight.

At the age of just 18 years she finished in the Chinese championship of women in 2009 in the weight class up to 69 kg with a duel of 265 kg (120-145) behind the Olympic champion Liu Chunhong , who was 267 kg (120-147) and Chen Ling, 265 kg (125–140) took 3rd place. From then on it was used by the Chinese Weightlifting Association at international championships.

In June 2010 she started at the Junior World Championships (U 20) in Sofia and won there with 251 kg (111-140) the world title ahead of Leidy Xessenia Solis Arboleda from Cuba , who reached 247 kg (108-139). In the same year it was used at the World Championships for Women in Antalya. She came there in a duel on 253 kg (113-140) and took 2nd place with this performance behind Svetlana Schimkowa from Russia , who came to 256 kg (116-140). She also came second in the individual disciplines of snatching and pushing.

In 2011, Kang Yue became the first Chinese champion. In the weight class up to 75 kg she achieved in a duel 260 kg (120-140), which was enough to win the title before Li Rongyan, 255 kg (112-143). In June 2011 she was again Junior World Champion (U 20) in the weight class up to 69 kg in Penang, where she was content with a duel of 244 kg (113-131), which was enough to secure the title. Two months later she also won the Universiade in Shenzen. Here 240 kg (110-130) were enough for her to win in a duel. In November 2011 it was also used in the women's world championships in the weight class up to 75 kg. She lifted 251 kg (116-135) in a duel, but only came in 6th place with this performance.

In April 2012, Kang Yue was in the weight class up to 69 kg with 271 kg (122-149) Chinese runner-up behind Xiang Yanmei , who performed the same duel, but was a few grams lighter than them. But neither she nor Xiang Yanmei got a start at the 2012 Olympic Games in London . The reason was that the International Olympic Committee severely limited the number of participants in the women's Olympic weightlifting tournament per nation. In London, for example, only China and Russia were able to name four starters in the seven women's Olympic weight classes. All other nations had even fewer starting places. China was therefore forced to choose four from a large number of world-class athletes who were allowed to start in London. Kang Yue and Xiang Yanmei were not there. They had to watch from a distance as a North Korean female athlete became Olympic champion in the weight class up to 69 kg with a performance that was 10 kg below the performance they had both achieved at the Chinese championships in 2012.

In April 2013, Kang Yue was again Chinese champion with 270 kg (120-150). At the Chinese national games in September 2013 she achieved her best duel performance in her career to date with 290 kg (130-160). At the World Cup in Wrocław in October 2013 , she was no longer in this good shape. She achieved there in the weight class up to 75 kg in a duel 276 kg (126-150), whereby she managed the 150 kg in the push only in the third attempt. She finished 3rd with her duel performance behind Olga Subowa , Russia, 282 kg (125–157) and Nadeschda Evstjuchina , Russia, 277 kg (120–157). With her performance of 126 kg she became world champion in snatch.
