Kangaarsuk [ kaˈŋɑːsːuk ] (according to the old spelling Kangârssuk ) is a desolate Greenlandic settlement in the Paamiut district in the Sermersooq commune .

location

Kangaarsuk is located in a small bay on a flat peninsula on the northern bank of the mouth of the Sermiligaarsuk fjord . From Kangaarsuk it's 43k to the southeast to Arsuk . Paamiut is 69 km to the northwest.

history

Kangaarsuk was founded as Udsted in the middle of the 19th century . At that time around 40 people lived in Kangaarsuk, which meant that the place was extremely small for an Udsted. He no longer appears in the 1901 census, so it can be assumed that Kangaarsuk was abandoned in the 19th century. In 1920 it was mentioned that only ruins can be found there.
