Kanta Gupta
Chander Kanta Gupta (born October 8, 1938 - March 27, 2016 ) was a Canadian mathematician and university professor. She was a professor of mathematics at the University of Manitoba , Canada and best known for her research on abstract algebra and group theory .
life and work
Gupta earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kashmir in Srinagar , a master's degree from the Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh and received his doctorate in 1967 with Michael Frederick Newman at the Australian National University in Canberra with the dissertation: Center Extended by Metabelian Groups. She was a professor of mathematics at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg , Canada and carried out research on various stays abroad in mathematics institutions in Brazil, Rome, Naples and Athens, among others. Her husband Narain Gupta (1936-2008) was also a graduate of the Australian National University and professor of mathematics at the University of Manitoba.
