The canton of Península de Challapata is an administrative district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The canton ( Bolivian : Cantón) Península de Challapata was until 2009 one of nine cantons of the then administrative district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Puerto Acosta in the province of Eliodoro Camacho . By law from 2009, the municipality of Puerto Acosta was divided into the three independent municipalities of Puerto Acosta , Escoma and Humanata , so that the canton of Península de Challapata is now one of four cantons in the municipality of Escoma.

The canton of Península de Challapata borders in the north, west and south on Lake Titicaca , in the northeast on the canton Collasuyo in the municipality Escoma , and in the southeast on the canton Puerto Carabuco in the municipality Puerto Carabuco .
