The canton of San Antonio de Esmoruco is a municipality in the Department of Potosí in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Cantón San Antonio de Esmoruco is one of two cantons in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Antonio de Esmoruco in the province of Sur Lípez . It borders on the municipality of San Pablo de Lípez to the northwest and west , the Republic of Argentina to the south , and the canton of Guadalupe to the east and northeast .

The canton extends between about 21 ° 52 'and 22 ° 28' south latitude and 66 ° 22 'and 67 ° 00' west longitude, it measures up to 40 kilometers from north to south and up to 55 kilometers from west to east. There are fourteen municipalities in the canton, the central place is San Antonio de Esmoruco in the north-eastern part of the canton with 370 inhabitants. The canton lies at an average altitude of 4600  m , in the center of the canton is the Cerro Panizo volcano .
