In the northern Black Forest , about halfway between Freudenstadt and Calw , the Egenhäuser Kapf towers at 627.4  m above sea level. NHN as the highest point in the Bömbachtal ; As the crow flies, around eight kilometers (north) west of Nagold and around three kilometers south-east of Altensteig , between the communities of Egenhausen and Walddorf .

It houses large parts of the nature and landscape protection area Egenhäuser Kapf with Bömbachtal .

Merging into red sandstone on the western slope, the Kapf otherwise largely consists of gray-blue to green-brown shell limestone soils, which form the basis for juniper heaths , rough meadows, stone bars and small quarries . As recently as 1860, rough bastard sheep were grazing on the gentian semi-dry grassland in the Egenhausen area.

The Protestant sports and leisure center Kapf is located on the Egenhäuser Kapf. It belongs to the Evangelical Youth Office in Württemberg . The area has been used for tent camps since 1950 , and the leisure home was built in the early 1960s.
