Karen O'Hara

Karen O'Hara (born before 1981) is an American art director and production designer who won the Oscar for best production design at the 2011 Academy Awards and was nominated for this Oscar once more.

Life

Karen O'Hara began her career as art director and production designer in 1981 for the television film Love Is My Strongest Weapon (The Marva Collins Story) and has worked on the staging of over thirty films to date.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1987 she was with Boris Leven nominated for the Academy Award for Best Production Design, specifically for The Color of Money (1986) by Martin Scorsese with Paul Newman , Tom Cruise and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio in the lead roles . Together with Linda Pearl , Michael Armani and Jan K. Bergstrom , she was nominated in 1993 for an Emmy for outstanding performance in art direction in a miniseries or a series special for the HBO- produced television film The Group (1993) by Glenn Jordan with James Garner , Jonathan Pryce and Peter Riegert .

For the production design in that of Tim Burton staged 3D - Fantasy - film Alice in Wonderland (2010) with Mia Wasikowska , Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp won in 2011 along with Robert Stromberg Oscar for Best Production Design and was also with this in nominated for the British Academy Film Awards 2011 for the British Academy Film Award (BAFTA Film Award) and the Critics Award of the Broadcast Film Critics Association .
