Karen Tebar

Karen Tebar (born September 19, 1964 in Ludwigsburg , Germany ) is a French dressage rider .

Career

Tebar comes from a horse-loving family. She began vaulting at the age of six and only later devoted herself to dressage. She competed in her first equestrian competition when she was ten. From 1979 to 1986 she rode Squaw , her mother's horse, in dressage tests from A to St. Georg. Tebar's first horse was the gelding Davidoff , whom she trained herself and rode in international tests from 1985 to 1996. At the beginning of the 1990s, Tebar, then still Karen Schetter, lived in France and rode in national and international competitions up to Grand Prix. It was there that she met her future husband Christophe Tebar. In 1993 she returned to Germany with Christophe Tebar. Her parents built their own riding facility in the Welzheimer Wald. Since 2000 she has been training under her father Willy Schetter in combination with external trainers. She has been working with Grand Prix instructor Jan Nivelle since 2014. In 2001 she was awarded the Golden Riding Badge . Tebar took French citizenship in 2003 and has been riding for France ever since. With Falada M, Tebar rode in 2004 at the Olympic Games in Athens in 21st place. In 2005 she was eleventh at the European Championships with her . In 2006 she became French dressage champion. At the World Equestrian Games in Aachen in the same year she reached 25th place in the individual and eighth place with the team. In May 2008 she was ranked 17th in the world and qualified for the Olympic Games in Hong Kong , but due to an injury to Falada, participation had to be canceled a few days in advance. In 2009, Falada was officially retired from the sport.

In June 2015, Karen Tebar became the French dressage champion with the Hanoverian black gelding Don Luis , with 76.88 percent in the Grand Prix Spécial she set an individual record. With Don Luis she was part of the French teams at the 2015 European Championships and the 2016 Olympic Games .

In 1994 she married Christophe Tebar, and in 2001 their son Maxim was born.

In 2006, Tebar and her family were honored for 40 years of membership in the Waiblingen Riding Club.
