Kari Simonsen (born June 5, 1937 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian actress who is known in her home country for her diverse appearances in film, television and theater.

biography

Simonsen made her debut in 1959 as an actress in Folketeatret . She then worked from 1960 to 1972 at Oslo Nye Teater , where she appeared as Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret . Over time, Simonsen developed into a well-known original and spirited actress who reached a wide audience in Norway in theater, film, television and radio. From 1972 she was permanently employed at the Nationaltheatret , and she continued to appear at the Edderkoppen theater and Chat Noir . She has also worked in several productions as an actress at ABC-teatret , Victoria Teater , Black Box Teater , Chateau Neuf and Bryggeteatret . In 1998 she appeared in the The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht in the role of Mrs. Peachum on, the wife of the owner of the company "beggar friend" at the Amfiscene its staging brought another 65 full performances of Nationaltheatret, including their contribution to the house. Simonsen has also played the role of mother Åse in Peer Gynt for many years in the open-air theater of the Peer Gynt Festival ( Peer Gynt-stemnet ) on the Norwegian lake Gålåvatnet in Fylke Oppland . In October 2006 a guest performance of this festival with Simonsen to the Peer Gynt piece of music was presented in Central Park in New York .

Among other things, Simonsen began working with the entertainer and comedian Rolv Wesenlund early on in her career , and she appeared with him and Harald Heide-Steen junior in various formats and mostly humorous TV and radio programs such as Hørerøret and Fleksnes . In 1974 she also spoke the Norwegian dubbing voice of Fabian Sommerfeld ( Solan Gundersen ) in the puppet cartoon by Ivo Caprino Hintertupfinger Grand Prix ( Flåklypa Grand Prix ). Simonsen appeared regularly for a long time as a presenter in the talk show Studio 5 on the television station FEM . Simonsen was probably best known in Norway for the role of Gjertrud Krogstad , mother of Svein Krogstad , in the soap opera Hotel Cæsar from TV 2 . In addition, she took part in many other film and television productions.

family

Simonsen was married to the writer Peder Wright Cappelen (died 1992) and their children, the philosopher and university professor Herman Cappelen , the economist Alexander Cappelen and the political scientist Cornelius Cappelen come from the marriage . Kari Simonsen herself is the daughter of Jon Simonsen (1900 to 1975) and Marie Louise Heiberg (1910 to 2007). The lawyer Gustav Heiberg Simonsen is her brother (and father of the journalist Marie Simonsen ). Kari Simonsen's grandmother Signe Konow (1871 to 1920) was a descendant of the farmer, author and politician Wollert Konow (1809 to 1881) from Bergen and who had been married since 1839 to Maria Louise Oehlenschläger (1818 to 1910), who in turn was the daughter of the Danish National poet Adam Gottlob Oehlenschläger is. Kari Simonsen is a direct descendant of the poet.
