Karin and Uwe Hollweg collection

The Karin and Uwe Hollweg Collection in Bremen consists of an art collection of over 600 works that has been privately invested by the married couple and honorary citizens of the city of Bremen, Karin and Uwe Hollweg , for 40 years . One focus is the art of Fluxus and abstract expressionism . Are represented with works Emmett Williams and Richard Hamilton , Mark Tobey and Wolfgang Otto Schulze ( wolf ), Emil Schumacher , Max Liebermann and John Cage . The collection includes numerous artist books, editions and portfolios.

For some years now, the collection has been transferred to the Karin and Uwe Hollweg Foundation , which supports non-profit organizations in the fields of art, culture and monument preservation , especially in Bremen. It is located in a private museum on the Altenwall in Bremen, right next to the Kunsthalle Bremen .

In 2011, the Hollweg couple received the Maecenas honor for their patronage , an award given by the Working Group of Independent Cultural Institutes eV (AsKI) since 1989.

The collector couple once earned their fortune in the plumbing and heating wholesale business. Cordes & Graefe was the market leader and Uwe Hollweg was its managing director.
