Uwe Hollweg (born October 13, 1937 in Bremen ) is a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ).

education and profession
Uwe Hollweg was born on October 13, 1937 as the son of an entrepreneur in Bremen. After completing secondary school at the Rudolf Steiner School , he completed an apprenticeship as a wholesaler and attended the state commercial school at the same time. In August 1956, he joined his father's company, Cordes & Graefe , Bremen, as a personally liable partner . From 1969 to 1971 he acted as Vice Chairman of the Federal Association of Young Entrepreneurs (BJU). Hollweg was the managing director of Cordes & Graefe sanitary and heating wholesalers in Bremen, Cordes & Graefe Beteiligungs- und Finanzgesellschaft mbH & Co. in Bremen and GC Sanitär- und Heizungs-Handels-Contor GmbH in Bonn . Today (2008) he is co-owner and member of the advisory board of the company. He is also a member of the board of directors of Sparkasse Bremen .
Uwe Hollweg is married and has three daughters. Together with his wife Karin, he founded the Karin and Uwe Hollweg Foundation in 1996 , which supports non-profit organizations in the fields of art, culture and monument preservation. Furthermore, Hollweg was president of the Bremen ice cream bet from 2001 to 2003 . He has been a commercial member of the Haus Seefahrt Foundation since 1987 .
politics
Hollweg joined the Christian Democrats in 1971 and was elected regional chairman of the CDU in Bremen in 1974 as the successor to Ernst Müller-Hermann . He gave up this post in 1979 in protest against the nomination of Franz Josef Strauss as candidate for chancellor of the Union. Then Bernd Neumann was elected as the new state chairman. From 1975 to 1979 and from 1983 to 1991 Hollweg was a member of the Bremen citizenship .
Honors
- Karin and Uwe Hollweg received the Maecenas Award 2011 from the Working Group of Independent Cultural Institutes eV - AsKI for their commitment to cultural policy
- Hollweg became an honorary citizen of the Hanseatic city of Bremen on April 9, 2003 .
