Ernst Müller-Hermann
Ernst Müller-Hermann (originally Ernst Müller ; born September 30, 1915 in Königsberg ; † July 19, 1994 in Wallgau ) was a German CDU politician and journalist.
biography
education and profession
After graduating from high school, Ernst Müller wanted to become a diplomat at the Friedrichs Kollegium and studied law and economics at the University of Königsberg from 1932 to 1934 . However, he had to give up his studies in 1934 because of "not purely Aryan descent"; one of his grandfathers was the Jewish physiologist , professor, rector and honorary doctor Ludimar Hermann (1838–1914). He then completed an apprenticeship as a forwarding agent and then worked for a forwarding and shipping company, first in Königsberg and later in Bremen . From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as a sergeant , and was wounded three times. In 1945 he came to Bremen in a hospital train .
In May 1945 he married. In addition, he now adopted the name Müller-Hermann in memory of his grandfather . He first worked as an interpreter for the American military government in Bremen, then worked as a sales representative and finally in 1949 became editor of the Weser-Kurier in Bremen. As a member of the Bundestag , he took advantage of the opportunity in Bonn to complete his studies in 1963, and he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole.
politics
The expellee Müller-Hermann founded a refugee party in Bremen in 1945. In 1946 he joined the CDU, which he helped found in Bremen . From 1946 to 1948 he was its state manager, from 1968 to 1974 its state chairman.
From 1946 to 1952 Müller-Hermann was a member of the Bremen citizenship , whose CDU parliamentary group he led from 1950 to 1952.
He was a member of the German Bundestag from January 1, 1952, when he replaced Johannes Degener , until 1980. He was elected to parliament in all election periods via the CDU's Bremen state list. 1957 to 1965 he was deputy chairman of the Bundestag Committee for Transport, Post and Telecommunications, from 1965 to 1969 of the Transport Committee. From June 13, 1967 to 1969 he was deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and from 1969 to 1976 chairman of the working group on economy and nutrition of the Union parliamentary group .
From February 27, 1958 to December 21, 1965 and from January 19, 1977 to 1984, he was also a member of the European Parliament .
Other offices
From 1971 to 1984 Müller-Hermann was President of the Federal Association of the Motor Vehicle Trade and spokesman for the interest group of the motor vehicle trade . From 1964 to 1985 he headed the Society for the Study of Structural Policy Issues in Bonn. For the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen he was an advisor on European affairs in 1984/85.
