Karl-Dieter Möller (born November 21, 1945 in Melle ) is a fully qualified lawyer , German television journalist and court reporter .

Life

Möller grew up as the son of a lawyer and senior civil servant in a federal agency in Münster . After graduating from high school, he studied journalism , political science and law at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He passed the first state examination in law in 1974 and completed his preparatory service in the management of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation . After that, Möller worked as a freelancer in the business editorial offices of the radio broadcasters BR and WDR as well as for various daily newspapers. He then worked as a personal advisor to the president of a trade association. In 1978 Möller passed his second state examination in law. He worked for the political editorship of the Aachener Volkszeitung and from January 1979 for the editorial office “Law and Justice” of the ZDF. In November 1986 Möller switched to Süddeutscher Rundfunk and headed the newly founded ARD television editorial team “Law and Justice” in Karlsruhe . He retained this function after the merger of the SDR with Südwestfunk to form Südwestrundfunk (SWR) in 1998. Since 1986 Möller was the ARD's judicial policy correspondent at the Federal Constitutional Court , the Federal Court of Justice and the Federal Prosecutor's Office . Möller retired on November 25, 2010, but continues to work as a legal expert for the SWR show Marktcheck in the Marktcheck asks Möller section . His successor in Karlsruhe at the Federal Constitutional Court for the ARD programs is Frank Bräutigam .

Karl-Dieter Möller is married to the artist Gabriele Möller-Kuhlmann (* 1949 in Münster) and has three children.

Award

In 1998 Karl-Dieter Möller was honored with the Adolf-Grimme-Preis Spezial for "constant, qualified reporting on legal issues in ARD news programs" .
