Karl-Eberhard Hain

Karl-Eberhard Hain (* 1960 in Hachenburg ) is a German lawyer and full professor at the law faculty of the University of Cologne .

Career

After graduating from high school in Marienstatt in 1978, he began studying law at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1986 he passed the first state examination in law. His clerkship graduated grove u. a. in Limburg an der Lahn . In 1990 the second state examination followed.

From 1990 to 1995 Hain worked as a research assistant at the legal seminar of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen at the chair of Christian Starck . In 1993 Hain finished his dissertation on freedom of broadcasting and broadcasting regulations . From 1995 to 1998, Hain enjoyed a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation .

In 1998, Hain completed his habilitation thesis on the principles of the Basic Law . He then obtained the Venia Legendi in the subjects of public law and legal philosophy . From 1998 to 2002 Hain was a substitute at the Universities of Göttingen, Bremen and Freiburg .

In addition, he worked temporarily in the legal department of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament .

From the 2003/2004 winter semester to the 2008 summer semester, Hain was a full professor at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and held a chair. Since the winter semester 2008/2009, Hain has been teaching at the University of Cologne , where he holds a chair for public law and media law and, together with Karl-Nikolaus Peifer, heads the university's institute for media law and communication law. He is a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen .

From 2009 to 2012, Hain was a member of the commission to determine the financial needs of broadcasters Commission to determine the financial needs of broadcasters (KEF), appointed by the Saarland.

Hain is married to the Green politician Tabea Rößner . He was the guitarist and singer of the German rock group "Schneemann". He is also the lead guitarist in the blues-rock band "Sugar Daddies".
