Karl-Heinz Bernhardt (theologian)

Karl-Heinz Bernhardt (born July 21, 1927 in Erfurt ; † 2004 ) was a German Protestant theologian , orientalist and university professor specializing in the Old Testament . Bernhardt was an unofficial employee and agent of the GDR State Security .

Life

Bernhardt studied Protestant theology and received his doctorate in theological sciences. He was appointed professor at the University of Rostock and the Humboldt University in Berlin.

He was a member of the Christian Peace Conference and from 1965 to 1986 chairman of its GDR regional committee.

Bernhardt worked under the code name "IM Förster" and then as "IM Jäger" as an unofficial employee of the GDR State Security , later also as a foreign spy under the guise of archaeological research in the Middle East.

Bernhardt published academic and popular scientific writings on archeology , astronomy and cosmology . Among other things, he dealt with the pseudoscientific theses of the author Erich von Däniken .
