Karl-Heinz Drescher
Karl-Heinz Drescher (born October 7, 1936 in Quirl ; † May 19, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German graphic artist .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1955, he studied commercial graphics with Walter Funkat until 1960 at the University of Industrial Design in Halle, Burg Giebichenstein . After two years of freelance work as a graphic artist in Halle (Saale) , he was finally hired in 1962 as a theater graphic for the Berliner Ensemble founded by Bertolt Brecht . 37 years of work in the fields of posters, books and exhibitions followed. He died on May 19, 2011 after a long illness.
Posters by Karl-Heinz Drescher can be found in the art collection of the Akademie der Künste , the German Historical Museum and the Brandenburg Art Collections in Cottbus .
Awards
Karl-Heinz Drescher was represented with his works many times in the selection " 100 best posters of the year " of the GDR and was in the years 1971, 1973, 1974, 1979, 1987 with the 1st price, 1989 with the 2nd price and Awarded 3rd prize in 1981.
Works
Karl-Heinz Drescher's catalog raisonné includes well over 400 posters. Most of them were for the Berliner Ensemble . But also for other Berlin theaters such as the "bat" ( Berlin workers' theater ), the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin, the German State Opera Berlin, the Academy of Arts of the GDR and the German Theater Berlin .
