Karl-Heinz Menke

Karl-Heinz Menke (born January 28, 1950 in Fürstenau ) is a German theologian, priest and pastor. He is professor emeritus for dogmatics and theological propaedeutics at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn .

Scientific career

Karl-Heinz Menke studied philosophy, Catholic theology and classical philology in Münster and Rome from 1968 to 1978 as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . He was ordained a priest in 1974 . He acquired in 1975 the licentiate in theology from the Gregorian University in Rome with a thesis on the Catholic Tubingen school of the 19th century. In 1978 the doctorate to Dr. theol. at the Gregoriana in Rome with a thesis on reason and revelation with Antonio Rosmini-Serbati . Between 1979 and 1981 he was vicar , religious teacher and dean's youth pastor in Twistringen near Bremen, before he was secret secretary of the Bishop of Osnabrück, cathedral vicar , director of the diocesan office for professions of the church and head of the diocesan foreigners department from 1981 to 1984 .

In 1984/1985 Menke took over the management of the parish of Bad Iburg and was a religion teacher at the local grammar school. Between 1986 and 1990 he worked on his habilitation . From 1987 to 1990 he was a research assistant at the chair for dogmatics, history of dogma and ecumenical theology at the University of Freiburg with Gisbert Greshake . In 1990 he completed his habilitation in the subject of dogmatics and the history of dogma at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg with a thesis on the subject of “ Deputy . Key Concept of Christian Life and Basic Theological Category ”. In 1990 he received a call to the chair for dogmatics and basic philosophical questions in theology of the Catholic-Theological Faculty in Paderborn and a call to the chair for dogmatics and theological propaedeutics of the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn. Since October 1, 1990, he has been Professor of Dogmatics and Theological Propaedeutics at the University of Bonn.

1991 Menke Bureau member was of the Faculty of Arts, University of Trento collaborative research project formed "philosophy and theology of the 19th century." In 2001 he became a member of Commission I (Theology) of the German Bishops' Conference. From 2000 to 2002 he was director of the general administration of the Catholic-Theological Faculty in Bonn, from 2002 to 2004 he was Dean of the Catholic-Theological Faculty in Bonn, from 2004 to 2006 Vice Dean. In 2005 he was appointed to the clearing commission of the German Bishops' Conference to revise the missal .

Pope Francis appointed him on September 23, 2014 for five years as a member of the International Theological Commission .
