Karl August Schneider

Karl August Schneider (born October 27, 1837 in Tauberbischofsheim , † January 15, 1911 in Karlsruhe ) was an officer, banker and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Schneider attended the grammar school in Tauberbischofsheim from 1846 to 1852 and the cadet school in Karlsruhe from 1852 to 1855. In 1855 he became a lieutenant in the Baden Leibgrenadier Regiment and from 1859 to 1861 he attended the higher war school in Karlsruhe. Between 1861 and 1866 he was a teacher of mathematics and fortification at the Baden cadet school. In 1862 he was appointed Premier Lieutenant and in 1866 he took part in the German-Austrian War with the Baden Leib Grenadier Regiment. The publication of a booklet entitled: The Share of the Bath. Field Division at the War of 1866 resulted in retirement in October 1866. In the spring of 1867, entry into business life, especially the insurance industry, as general agent for various companies. For the duration of the war in 1870 he was reactivated as a captain and used as a stage commander. He was awarded the Iron Cross and the Knight's Cross 1st Class with Swords of the Württemberg Crown Order. From 1862 to 1880 he was President of the Baden Military Associations, as such he was awarded the Prussian Order of the Crown in 1877 and the Bad Zähringer Order of the Lion in 1880 . In 1871 he became a city councilor in Karlsruhe and had been chairman of the city council since 1881. In April 1880, he founded the banking business Karl August Schneider . Since July 1880 he was President of the Chamber of Commerce for the Karlsruhe district .

From 1881 to 1884 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Baden 10 (Karlsruhe, Bruchsal ) and the National Liberal Party . He also had a mandate from 1883 to 1888 as a member of the Karlsruhe-Land electoral district in the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly .
