Karl Bege

Karl Friedrich Bege (born May 28, 1768 in Seesen , † September 25, 1849 in Wolfenbüttel ) was a German lawyer and historian .

life and work

Bege studied law at the University of Helmstedt from 1790 . From 1793 he first worked as an auditor for the city council of Wolfenbüttel . During the French period in the Kingdom of Westphalia , to which Wolfenbüttel belonged as part of the dissolved principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel between 1807 and 1813, Bege was a justice of the peace in the canton of Wolfenbüttel . After the liberation in 1815 he was first a district administrator in Seesen, then later in Helmstedt , where he last worked as a district judge .
