Karl Behlert

Karl Behlert was one of the busiest architects in Thuringia in the early 20th century.
Life
Karl Behlert did an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and then worked as a site manager in the court building office of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen . In 1890/1891 he studied architecture in Berlin for a maximum of three semesters . It is not known which institution he visited. When he returned to Meiningen, he succeeded Albert Neumeister as court architect and head of the court building office, which he held until 1918. In 1901 he went on a creative and profitable study trip to England and Scotland. In 1909 he was appointed court building officer on the occasion of the inauguration of the new court theater.
