Karl Blau (born March 6, 1930 in Themar ; † March 31, 1994 ) was a German politician and functionary of the NDPD in the GDR .

Life

Blau, the son of a master shoemaker , learned the same profession from 1945 to 1948 after attending primary school in Themar and high school in Hildburghausen . He then worked as an apprentice shoemaker and became a master shoemaker in 1952. In 1951 he joined the NDPD and was from 1952 to 1954 managing director of the NDPD district executive in Meiningen . From 1954 to 1973 he was chairman of the District Chamber of Crafts in Suhl . From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the Suhl District Assembly and at the same time a member of the Länderkammer and successor candidate of the People's Chamber of the GDR. From 1955 to 1990 he was a member of the main committee of the NDPD, from 1963 to 1990 he was also a member of its executive committee. From 1958 to 1963 he was a member of the People's Chamber and a member of the Economic Committee.

From 1967 to 1973 he was a member of the National Council of the National Front of the GDR and chairman of the Suhl district committee. From 1975 to January 18, 1990, Blau was the successor to Martin Richter as chairman of the NDPD district executive in Karl-Marx-Stadt . In 1990 he was State Secretary for Handicraft and Trade Policy and Local Utilities in the Ministry of Light Industry in the Modrow government .
