Karl Breymann

Karl Breymann (spelling often also Carl ; * May 21, 1807 in Salzburg , † February 12, 1870 in Mariabrunn ) was an Austrian forest scientist and mathematician .

Life

Breymann graduated from high school in Salzburg . In 1824 he passed the examination for forestry and hunting at the kk Forstamt Friedburg before he devoted himself to studying at the Mariabrunn Forest Academy from 1825 to 1828 . He then completed a career in forest service. In 1828 he was appointed forestry assistant in Friedburg, in 1831 appointed district forester in the Innkreis and in 1843 promoted to district forester 1st class in St. Johann in Tirol . In November 1843 he became forester in Spital am Pyhrn , and finally in Salzburg in 1848. There he was appointed head of forest taxation in the Duchy of Salzburg in 1850 . During his years in the forestry service, he appeared with specialist publications in the field of mathematics.

In 1852/1853 Breymann accepted a call to the Mariabrunn Forest Academy in the Vienna area. In addition to his teaching activities, he continued to work as a specialist writer and published several textbooks. He also made a name for himself in the field of wood measurement.
