Karl Ernst Hänsel (born December 6, 1868 in Löbtau near Dresden , † 1947 in Radebeul ) was a German painter and etcher .

Live and act

After an apprenticeship as a porcelain painter in Löbtau, Hansel attended the Royal Saxon School of Applied Arts in Dresden under Ermenegildo Carlo Donadini . Easter 1889 he moved to the Dresden Art Academy , where he from 1890 to 1894 master student at Ferdinand Pauwels was.

As a portrait painter he delivered some works in oil or watercolor, including a self-portrait, as a draftsman there are some biblical and landscape depictions of him. Hansel's main interest, however, was in etching. Above all, his portraits of workers, some of whom were religiously influenced, should be mentioned here. Also worth mentioning are his etchings by Kaiser Wilhelm II , the Saxon King Friedrich August III. as well as that of Paul von Hindenburg .
