Karl Friedrich August Nobbe (born May 7, 1791 in Pforta ; † July 16, 1878 in Leipzig ) was a German educator and philologist .

Life

Nobbe was born in Pforta in 1791. From 1804 to 1810 he attended the Royal Saxon Princely and State School in Pforta . He received his doctorate as Dr. phil. In 1814 he became a teacher at the Thomas School in Leipzig, in 1816 third teacher there and finally in 1820 vice rector . From 1828 to 1866 he was rector of the Nikolaischule . From 1817 he was a private lecturer , in 1827 an associate professor of philology and in 1875 a full honorary professor at the University of Leipzig . In addition, he became a knight of the Royal Saxon Order of Albrecht in 1853 and of the Order of Merit in 1864. Nobbe was editor of descent lists for the reformer Martin Luther . He died in Leipzig in 1878.

Nobbe was married to Antonie Franziska Nobbe (née König) since 1836. His son is the pastor Heinrich Friedrich August Nobbe (1843–1925).
