Karl Friedrich Pauli

Karl Friedrich Pauli (born September 4, 1723 in Saalfeld in Prussia , † February 9, 1778 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German legal scholar and historian.

Life

The son of the Protestant pastor and consistorial councilor Gottfried Albrecht Pauli studied law and philosophy at the University of Königsberg from 1740 and at the University of Halle from 1742 . In Halle he received his doctorate in 1747 with the dissertation de Jure Principis circa res nullius in genre, et in specie Regis Borussorum circa res nullius in Borussia as a doctor of law. In the same year he also earned the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy.

After Pauli had turned down an extraordinary professorship in law at the University of Königsberg in 1748, he became an extraordinary professor of constitutional law and history in Halle in 1751 and a full professor of philosophy and history in 1765. Pauli also took part in the organizational tasks of the university and was Vice-Rector of the Halle Alma Mater for two terms from 1775 to 1777 .
