Karl Geldner (politician)

Karl Geldner (born July 6, 1927 in Schillingsfürst ; † January 7, 2017 ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After attending elementary and vocational school, Geldner did Reich labor service in 1944/45 . He completed an apprenticeship in the bakery trade, completed it in 1946 with the assistant examination and then attended the bakery school in Weinheim , where he passed the master craftsman examination in 1949. In 1952 he took over the management of a bakery in Schillingsfürst .

Political party

Geldner joined the FDP Bavaria in October 1946 , was elected local chairman of the FDP Schillingsfürst in 1957 and was also deputy district chairman of the FDP Rothenburg ob der Tauber .

MP

Geldner was a council member of the Schillingsfürst community from 1956 to 1964 and was elected to the district council of the Rothenburg / Tauber district in 1960. He was a member of the German Bundestag from the Bundestag election from 1965 to 1969 and from January 26, 1970, when he replaced the deceased MP Albrecht Haas , until 1976. He was drawn into parliament via the state list of the FDP Bavaria . At the beginning of November 1970, Franz Josef Strauss , Richard Stücklen and Hermann Höcherl tried to persuade Karl Geldner to join the CSU beyond 1977 by promising a secure mandate in the Bundestag . He was also offered a four-year consultancy contract worth 400,000  DM at the paper bag factory from Anton Beyer , one of the leading functionaries of the National Liberal Action . In a letter to the President of the Bundestag Kai-Uwe von Hassel , Karl Geldner made this attempted poaching public. On October 29, 1974, Geldner was charged with unofficial false testimony in connection with a previous consulting contract for the Beyer paper bag factory, and sentenced to a fine of 15,000 DM.
