Karl Friedrich Heimburger (born November 1, 1859 in Ottenheim (Schwanau) , † April 16, 1912 in Illenau ) was a German teacher and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a farmer and innkeeper , Heimburger studied classical philology and modern languages ​​in Freiburg, Leipzig and Heidelberg after attending the humanistic grammar school in Lahr and the grammar school in Freiburg im Breisgau . During his studies in 1879 he became a member of the Freiburg fraternity of Teutonia . He was a one-year volunteer with the 5th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 113 . In 1887 he was promoted to Dr. phil. did his doctorate and went to the Bruchsal grammar school as a teaching trainee . After studying in Paris around 1890/91, he became a professor at the Realschule in 1891 , and in 1894 at the Oberrealschule in Karlsruhe . There he became director in 1905, but moved to the Humboldt Gymnasium in Karlsruhe in 1908 in the same position . From 1891 to 1895 and from 1899 to 1912 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly . He belonged to the Baden Progressive People's Party . In 1893 he became a city ​​councilor in Karlsruhe. He was also the first chairman of the local Democratic Association . From 1901 to 1904 and from 1907 to 1910 he was the second vice-president of the state parliament and leader of his party. He was chairman of the Progressive People's Party in Baden . As a linguist , he also made an outstanding contribution to the Ottenheim dialect , which he had dealt with since his doctoral thesis .
