Karl Heinrich Pohl

Karl Heinrich Pohl (born June 9, 1943 in Schweidnitz , Lower Silesia ) is a German historian and history teacher .

Life

After studying history, German and political science in Tübingen , Munich and Hamburg , he passed the state examinations for the higher teaching post in Hamburg in 1971 and 1978; he received his doctorate in 1977, the habilitation followed in 1989.

From 1974 to 1976 he was a member of the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg ; from 1978 to 1981 he was a research assistant at the Pedagogical University of Westphalia-Lippe ; until 1987 he worked as a university assistant at Bielefeld University; until 1995 he was a private lecturer and employee in the SFB 177 "History of the modern middle class in international comparison".

Since 1995 he has held the chair for history and its didactics at the educational science faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU), since 2001 the chair for history and its didactics II in the history seminar of the CAU Kiel. Until the end of the summer semester 2009 he was a member of the board of directors of the IZRG ( Institute for Schleswig-Holstein Contemporary and Regional History ) in Schleswig. He retired at the end of the 2010 summer semester.

In 2002 he was awarded the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Prize .

Research activity

His main work and interests were and are German history in the 19th and 20th centuries (labor movement, bourgeoisie), regional history and the didactics of history (extracurricular forms of learning, study reform projects).
