Karl Julius Kayser

Karl Julius Kayser (born May 9, 1809 in Weißenfels an der Saale , † June 16, 1889 in Frankfurt an der Oder ) was royal Prussian major general and most recently the commander of the Torgau fortress .

His parents were the lawyer and Privy Councilor Kurt Kayser and his wife Karoline Vogel .

Life

He received his education at the school in Naumburg an der Saale . On October 15, 1824, he joined the 26th Infantry Regiment. On September 15, 1826 he was appointed Portepeefähnrich and on December 13, 1826 as Seconde Lieutenant. From 1831 to 1833 it was then assigned as the General War School . After his return to the regiment, he was posted to the Guards Artillery Brigade on June 8, 1834 and aggregated into the brigade on December 9, 1835 . From there he was posted to the Topographical Office from 1838 to 1840 , during which time he was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant on June 4, 1839 . After his return he was assigned to the Guards Artillery Brigade on December 28, 1840 and assigned to the General Staff on April 12, 1842 , where he was appointed captain on April 1, 1843. On April 4, 1844 he was transferred to the General Staff of the V Army Corps, where he was promoted to major on October 31, 1848. He was given command of the artillery in Baden on September 15, 1848, and as such took part in the Baden campaign in 1849 . On December 10, 1850 he returned to the General Staff of the V Army Corps , on April 13, 1852 he was transferred to the General Staff of the II Army Corps . There he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 13, 1854, and on October 15, 1855, he was transferred to the General Staff of the VII Army Corps as chief .

On May 16, 1857, he was transferred to the United Artillery and Engineering School as director , and on June 15, 1857, he was appointed à la suite of the Guards Artillery Regiment. There he was promoted to colonel on May 22, 1858, and on April 21, 1859 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class with ribbon . On May 19, 1859, he was transferred to Torgau as commander and remained à la suite with the Guards Artillery. On October 18, 1861, he received the character of Major General and on January 12, 1864 the Order of the Crown, 2nd Class, before being put up for retirement on April 4, 1865 . He died on June 16, 1889 in Frankfurt an der Oder .

family

He married Malwine Sidonie Elvira Witte on April 27, 1847 in Schenkenberg ( Prenzlau district ) ; the marriage was divorced on May 7, 1857. On May 27, 1859, he married in Berlin Wanda Hedwig Charlotte Therese von Ricaud-Tiregale (born April 28, 1838), a daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Wilhelm Heinrich Eduard von Ricaud (1794-1867). The couple had two children:
